Fitness progress tracking with photos, measurements and strength

Fitness progress tracking in Elvyfit pulls together what the scale cannot tell you: photos with a calendar and a comparison tool, 14 measurements, a weight trend, reports and a strength map by muscle. You can see how you are changing even when the morning number goes up and down.

Illustrative example

Progress photos with a calendar and comparison tool

Photos are the most honest way to see slow change. Elvyfit organizes them in a monthly calendar with three views: front, side and back. A silhouette guide helps you stand the same way every time, and a level line that uses your phone's accelerometer keeps the camera from tilting.

The comparison tool shows your before and after with a slider or side by side. The photos are yours: they are only shared if you decide to share them.

  1. Get in position

Follow the silhouette guide and set your phone at the right height.

  2. Level it

The level line tells you when the phone is straight.

  3. Shoot

A 10 second timer gives you time to get into position.

  4. Compare

Pick two dates and view them with the slider or side by side.

Body measurements and body fat percentage as a range

You can save 14 body measurements and watch them change over time. They are a good signal when your weight stands still, for example if you gain muscle while your waist shrinks.

Body fat percentage is calculated with the Navy method, which uses your neck, your waist and, for women, your hips. Elvyfit always shows it as a range, with a typical error of 3.5%, never as an exact figure, because that method is an estimate. Use it to watch a trend, not to obsess over a decimal. Measure at the same time of day and with the same tape every time, because a small measuring error moves the result a lot.

Navy body fat is an estimate. If you need a clinical measurement, talk to a healthcare professional.

Weight trend, water and steps

Your weight on a single day tells you almost nothing: it depends on water, salt and digestion. That is why the app draws the weight trend and not the daily noise. It also tracks water and steps.

If you connect them, Apple Health and Health Connect provide steps, sleep and weight. Elvyfit only reads them: it writes nothing to Apple Health. The trend is also the basis for the weekly diet adjustment, which is explained on the page about meal and macro tracking.

Weekly report, recaps and achievements

Every week you get a report with your trend. On Free you can use 2 reports with adjustment. On Plus they are unlimited and include set adjustment. The monthly recap, which you can export, and the yearly recap with Elvy are Plus.

There are 29 achievements to work toward. When you close a 12 week block, or at the end of the year, you can see your Wrapped, as long as you have at least 4 weeks of data. To understand how regularity is measured, look at the workout streak.

Strength map: your muscles with a rank

The strength map is an anatomical figure that colors each muscle according to your level. There are 8 groups with their own rank (chest, back, legs, shoulders, biceps, triceps, abs and glutes), and the figure draws 16 muscles that inherit the rank of their group.

The rank comes from your estimated one rep max in your set logs. Until you have 2 top sets in different weeks, it is provisional. How each set is logged is covered in workout tracking.

AI body analysis: posture, not body fat

Body analysis uses front and side photos to point out posture and possible muscle imbalances. It does not measure body fat, and the photos are not stored after the analysis. It asks for its own specific consent before sending anything. The Free plan includes 1 per month and Plus includes 4.

It is guidance, not a diagnosis. If you feel pain or something worries you, talk to a healthcare professional.

What to know

All of this is estimates and trends, not a verdict. Your body does not change in a straight line, and the app does not promise results or timelines. If you have or have had an eating disorder, avoid obsessive tracking of measurements and talk to a professional.

You can export all your data as JSON and delete your account, photos included, from inside the app. For now the app is available in Spanish only.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I take progress photos?

At a pace you can keep up, for example every two to four weeks, always at the same time of day and in the same light. The Elvyfit calendar lets you see at a glance which views you have for each month.

Who can see my progress photos?

Only you. Photos are shared only if you decide to share them. On top of that, your weight and body fat percentage are never published.

Is the body fat percentage in Elvyfit reliable?

It is an estimate using the Navy method and it is always shown as a range, with a typical error of 3.5%. It is useful for watching a trend, not for an exact measurement.

Does the body analysis measure my body fat?

No. It looks at posture and muscle imbalances from front and side photos, and the photos are not stored. The Free plan has 1 analysis per month and Plus has 4.

Does Elvyfit write data to Apple Health?

No. With Apple Health and Health Connect it only reads steps, sleep and weight, and only if you give permission. It does not write to Apple Health.

Is the app available in English?

Not yet. The app is only in Spanish for now. Photos, measurements and charts work the same way, but the labels and messages are in Spanish.
